DUNCAN 'MOTO'SPORTS BMX WINTER ACTION

With the LSGTPA tractor pulling season coming to a close, the Duncan Motorsports team has switched to racing action of the two wheel kind.  Lane Duncan has hung his fire suit up and donned his padded BMX gear, to mix it up with the Texas Division 1, USA-BMX competitors. Lane will be testing four BMX bike combinations in the next few weeks, and was licensed as #594.  After only a handful of races, Lane has shown great improvement with each event, and continues to improve with each outing.  BMX racing is a tough sport, with the professional riders making it look easy from the stands and on television !!  The sport is great fun and great exercise for those interested in staying fit, but has certainly proved to be an emotional sport, not for the weak at heart !  The team will work out at the Allen Station Park BMX track in Allen, and will practice and compete at the Metroplex BMX facility in Desoto, and the Cowtown BMX track in Ft. Worth this winter.  Lane is scheduled to make his national event debut at the Dallas USA-BMX Super Nationals, March 22-24.

DUNCAN PILOTS TEXAS T-REX TO TOP FIVE LSGTPA STANDINGS

Lane Duncan piloted his Texas T-Rex pulling tractor to a fourth place finish at the season finale in Rockdale, Texas.  The teams finish would leave them one point shy of the 2012 points lead, in the LSGTPA Championship Points chase, but would make the third year for the 'Texas T-Rex' and Lane finishing in the top five of the Youth Class competitors.  Lane and the entire 'Texas T-Rex' team would like to thank all of those who have made the 2012 pulling season possible !  Among those contributing to Lane's pulling success, are crew members Richard 'PawPaw' Duncan, Nancy 'Nannie' Duncan, Angel Duncan and crew chief Jeff Duncan.  Also, thank you to the original owner of the 'Texas T-Rex' Larry King and aunt Donna King who provided the tractor for which Lane began his LSGTPA Youth Class career !

Lane and his 'Texas T-Rex' team have immediately began testing for the 2013 season, and hopes to debut with an improved setup with which to compete in the LSGTPA Youth Class this next spring.

Thanks again to all of those involved in the LSGTPA, and those who support our team and our sport.  And a special thanks to all of the fans who turn out to support Team Texas T-Rex, and all of the LSGTPA pulling teams. !!

Texas T-Rex Scores Second Full Pull

Lane Duncan took his 'Texas T-Rex' tractor out of the back gate during the LSGTPA event at Woody Blanton Memorial Arena!  For the second week in a row, Lane piloted his tractor to a Full Pull during the Grayson County Fair Tractor Pull at Loy Lake Park!  Lane was able to hold on for a fourth place finish, after a less than perfect second pulling attempt.  'We hit a slick spot', reported Lane after the pull.  The loose sandy surface proved to be somewhat of a challenge for the Duncan team, as well as for some of the other pullers.

The team will now prepare for the final event of the LSGTPA 2012 pulling season, to be held in Rockdale, Texas on Saturday Oct. 20.  This event will be held on the Texas Horse Racing Hall of Fame listed, historic race track on the Milam County Fairgrounds.

TEAM T-REX SCORES FIRST FULL PULL

Old Time Saturday morning began on a chilly note in Farmersville, Texas for the LSGTPA pullers and fans.  Temperatures dipped into the 40's as the first fall cold front swept through the area.  Lane Duncan unloaded his 'Texas T-Rex' pulling tractor, wearing coat, hoodie, and gloves.  The Duncan Motorsports team was hoping for a good showing in Farmersville, to maintain a top five position as the LSGTPA championship points season comes to a close with a three event in three weeks marathon.
Soon after the 'T-Rex' was unloaded, Lane's special guest arrived and warmed up the morning !  Nashville recording artist Ashliegh Lisset, was invited to perform the National Anthem for the event, and had graciously accepted the invitation.   The talented young lady from Texas, had just returned from Nashville, and had just released her debut album 'Misunderstood'.  Ashliegh showed up, on a chilly morning and after suffering from a cold previously in the week, in order to present our National Anthem and support Lane !  Ashliegh presented Lane with a 'goody bag' of CD's, her popular 'Misunderstood' wristbands, and poster !

Just as icing on the cake, or further incentive, Ashliegh performed the National Anthem in an awesome presentation, during opening ceremonies, sporting a #83 jersey that she had made in support of Lane !!!  Awesome !  Lane later presented Ashliegh with an honorary pulling trophy, made for the event winners, in appreciation of her performance !

Then it was time to get down to business. After Ms. Lisset's stirring rendition of the National Anthem, the crowd was excited and the pullers were energized !  Lane was the second hook, and once he dumped the clutch, he never looked back, as he piloted the 'Texas T-Rex' straight down the middle of the track to his first FULL PULL !!!!!  Lane was able to hold on and finish in the runner-up spot at the event, and moved into the second place in the points standings !

Team Texas T-Rex Prepares for Farmersville

With the enormous amount of rainfall in Bartlett forcing officials to cancel the LSGTPA event during the Old Town Festival celebration, the Texas T-Rex Team is now focused on the next event to be held in Farmersville, Texas.  We would like to thank all of those involved in the planning and preparation for the Bartlett event, and were certainly looking forward to our first pull and visit to the town, but we also can appreciate the much needed rain that fell during the weekend.  We hope that 2013 will allow for a return to Bartlett.  With the next event, during the Farmersville Old Time Saturday celebration, we will also be excited to have Ashliegh Lisset as part of the LSGTPA opening ceremonies, as this Nashville recording artist and Texas native will be presenting our National Anthem !  This extremely talented entertainer is working hard to make the climb to stardom in the music industry, and we are honored to have her as part of our show !  We hope to have some of our family and friends from the area at Farmersville to bring us luck, and are looking forward to dragging the LSGTPA sled  !

Team Texas T-Rex Bartlett Bound

Lane Duncan and his 'Texas T-Rex' LSGTPA pulling tractor will be headed south to Bartlett, Texas for the Old Town Festival on September 15.  The historic town of Bartlett was founded in 1881 as a station on the Katy Railroad, and the Old Town Festival is an annual event which will include cookoffs, arts and crafts, concerts, and yes...LSGTPA Tractor Pulling !  The weather forecast looks great, as much cooler temperatures and only a slight chance of rain are predicted for Saturday.  The Team T-Rex crew has performed only routine maintenance on Lane's machine and is looking forward to the first appearance for the team in Bartlett !  The event is scheduled for a 12 noon start, with the track being located on Hwy 95 (next to the Dollar General)

Duncan 'MotoSports' Goes Motorless

During the summer break between tractor pulls, our driver dismounted his four wheeled and piston driven engine powered machine, and mounted a two wheeled pedal driven ride.  Lane has enrolled in a 'Track Bike Development Class', which trains competitors in the sport of Velodrome bicycle racing.  Lane will continue to train and practice at the Superdrome in Frisco, Texas for competition in this exciting sport.  The bicycles are direct driven, with no brakes or clutches to allow coasting.  The 250 meter track has 44 degree banking in the turns and is made of wood.  The minimum speed required to successfully navigate the turns is around 12 mph, with some riders reaching speeds of 45 mph.

+

Lane hopes to soon receive his track bike certification, and will then be able to compete in the youth division races.

Moving back to the dirt surfaces, Lane also has been preparing for competition in the BMX Class Competition.  Lane will be competing in classes divided by age groups, with bicycles required to have 20" wheels and similar gearing.  The team has been testing a series of bikes, at the Allen Station Park BMX track and at the Metroplex BMX track in Desoto.

The two wheeled machines may be a little less powerful that the four wheeled vehicles in the Duncan Motorsports camp, but they are no less fun !  I have been pleasantly reminded of how much fun bike riding can be, with these latest endeavors, and now look forward to wiping the dust off of my old bikes !  I hope to have Lane and I both riding together soon, and we both should certainly enjoy the exercise.  Lane hopes to complete his licensing and registration at the Metroplex BMX facilty in Desoto, and will be competing in the Novice Division of the USA-BMX/ABA.

BILL HALTER MEMORIAL PULL

Lane Duncan and his 'Texas T-Rex' Team traveled to the blackland track of Blue Ridge, Texas for the Bill Halter Memorial Tractor Pull.  The team unloaded and setup camp with family and friends, and enjoyed a great opening ceremony, featuring Bailey Melvin presenting the National Anthem.  After the call for the Youth Class, we discovered a fuel leak on the tractor, resulting in an all-hands-on-deck thrash.  Within a few minutes, we had the problem solved and had Lane and his tractor across the scales at exactly 950 pounds, ready to pull.  Lane had a decent pull in the first session, of 138', which placed him third.  We held pace with the leaders and finished in the third spot for the evening...not bad considering the competition !

Thanks to all of our friends and family, some of whom we put to work, for your support !!!  It was great to have our 'Uncle Larry' King (previous owner of the T-Rex) and aunt Donna with us.  And as always, we rely heavily on Nannie and PawPaw as our pit crew.  Congratulations to Bailey Melvin on her National Anthem performance !  We expect to hear more of this young singer in the future !  We will be preparing for the next event in Bartlett, Texas coming up September 15th, so stay tuned.
