TEAM T-REX TAKES ON TRICKY TRACK AT TAWAKONI

Lane Duncan and his 'Texas T-Rex' pulling tractor faced a tricky track and some trying conditions during the Rolling Oaks Volunteer Fire Department Tractor Pull.  The LSGTPA event was contested near the Wills Point community, just south of Lake Tawakoni.  Area rain showers on the dark clay track, had the initial surface slippery early in the day.  Light showers throughout the event, and cool temperatures, made for an ever changing track.   Lane managed a top five finish for the team, at the end of the day.

The team will now clean and prepare the 'Texas T-Rex' Youth Class tractor for the LSGTPA 2014 season finale at the Rockdale Fair and Rodeo event, Saturday October 18.   The last event of the year is scheduled for a 12 noon start, with opening ceremonies to include the National Anthem presentation by 2012 Rockdale Fair Queen and performing artist, Emily McCoy.

Duncan Works Texas T-Rex To Podium Finish At Bill Halter Memorial Tractor Pull

Lane Duncan piloted his Texas T-Rex tractor, to a third place finish at the Bill Halter Memorial Tractor Pull.  The LSGTPA event is held in Blue Ridge, Texas, and is named in honor of longtime puller Billy Halter, who passed away in 2006, and who rests at the Blue Ridge Cemetery overlooking the pulling track.  Blue Ridge, which was originally named Pull'n Tug before 1860, is a blackland track which usually favors the higher horsepower tractors.  The surface can be tricky, depending upon the moisture content and track preparation.  On this weekend, the Texas T-Rex had a great second round pull, to post the podium finish in the third spot.

Lane Duncan and his 'Texas T-Rex' pulling team, scored a fourth place finish at the DeLeon Peach and Melon Festival Tractor Pull, during a warm day of LSGTPA tractor pulling action.  The team struggled in the first round, and managed a great second round pull to finish near the top teams at the end of the event.  Recent clutch changes seemed to improve the performance of the 'Texas T-Rex' tractor, and the crew looks forward to the next LSGTPA event, the Bill Halter Memorial Pull, which will be held in Blue Ridge, Texas.

Team Texas T-Rex Early Season Recap

The LSGTPA 2014 season is off to a fast and furious start !  Lane Duncan has been a busy young man in April, with four events in four weeks.  The Texas T-Rex tractor has held together and performed pretty well during the early season sprint, but the team is hoping to improve the little tractor as the season progresses.  The team has managed at top five finish at each of the events so far, but has yet to score a win.

At the Hunt County Fair Tractor Pull, the team was excited to be among those interviewed for the Chevy Hometown Kids television series.  Host and star, Emily Reppert, and the Fox Sports Southwest film crew, were on hand to record and provide coverage of the event for an upcoming episode of their show.  The show highlights youth sports and is very entertaining.  We were excited to be a part of such a great production !

Modifications over the off-season to the 'Texas T-Rex', to the hitch and tire package, have the tractor hooking a lot better than previously.  At the Delta County Pull, the tractor seemed to lug the engine more than before.  Again, in Greenville at the Hunt County Fair event, the tractor seemed to really load the engine and may have benefited from a slightly lower gear.

At the Bonham Heritage Day event, the track seemed hard and packed well, so we elected to pull in a lower gear.  The Texas T-Rex sounded better, but seemed to need just a little more momentum.  The team has changed the drive pulley and gear ratios, in order to hopefully close in on the right combination for the next pull.
